A Very Bunny Existence

Life with a husband and 3 bunnies.

The New Shelf

on October 6, 2012

Wednesday night, the bunnies were playing and lounging around in their usual bunny way.  During the course of the evening, Crispin fell THREE times attempting to jump up on the shelf in their NIC pen.

It’s a bit hard to see here, but it’s the only picture I have of their NIC cage at the moment.  Both buns jump up onto the white shelf and sometimes try jumping from the green shelf to the white shelf.  Crispin fell trying to do both of these jumps at various times Wednesday evening.

Over the last few months, we’ve seen both bunnies not quite make the jump, but it’s been pretty few and far between.  After seeing Crispin fall three times, though, in one night, we knew we had to do something.  In order to prevent the trans-shelf crossings, we added another panel to connect the green and white shelves.  Now there could be no jumping from one shelf to the other, and jumping from the floor up should be easier, too.

The bunnies are IN LOVE with their new shelf.  Yesterday, Matt watched them trade off who was sleeping on the new shelf and pushing each other around to try to claim the shelf for themselves.  Our bunnies are so courteous to each other.  Anyway, here’s some shots of the two sleeping peacefully together on their new pen addition:

Crispin had stretched out first, but then Junie came along and saw that there was plenty of room for two.

Snuggle buns.

New Shelf SnugglingSo cozy on their new shelf.

I’m not sure if they just like it because it’s new or if they particularly like the positioning of this shelf.  Either way, they are definitely enjoying themselves!
